STS Group AG presents innovative technologies at its first Capital Markets Day
Andreas Becker, CEO of STS Group AG, gave an update on the Group strategy in his keynote speech. A particular focus is on expanding the international presence, further developing innovative components and optimizing cost efficiency. "As STS Group, we want to keep growing, in order to expand our leading position as a system supplier. With a total of 17 plants, we are present in all major markets. Our local proximity to customers, the leading automotive OEMs, sets us clearly apart from the competition," said Becker.
STS Group was able to win Sebastian Wolff (M. Sc.), from the Department of Automotive Engineering at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), as a guest speaker. Wolff does research, among other things, in the field of alternative drives in the commercial vehicle industry, transport efficiency and energy recovery. In his presentation, he outlined the challenges and future trends of the global commercial vehicle industry. In his opinion, there is a conflict area between a constantly increasing transport volume and a simultaneous reduction in emissions. New engine concepts, lightweight components and aerodynamic systems are the key technologies for more sustainable transport.
STS Group is already providing solutions to the mobility challenges of the future. Guests of the Capital Markets Day were able to assure themselves of the advantages of STS components live on site. For example, of a cover for battery systems, which the Group produces for a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer. The 1.7-meter-long cover meets the highest requirements by resisting high temperatures and high pressure. Thanks to its lightweight composite construction, it also makes a significant contribution to weight reduction. In the future, the cover will also ensure the electromagnetic shielding of the battery.
STS technology is in demand in other areas as well. Eric Morvan, Vice President Research & Development at STS, emphasized the importance of integrated vehicle structures. The unique STS competences in form of different technologies are combined to form an innovative complete solution. For example, systems in the areas of acoustics, structure, optics and temperature management are created in a unique combination. This high degree of vertical integration makes STS a reliable system provider for its customers, frequently ranked as a Tier 1 supplier. Eric Morvan presented a complete system to the guests of the Capital Markets Day in the form of an STS fender for trucks. The component improves vehicle aerodynamics, reduces noise emissions and improves vehicle aesthetics.
"The global automotive industry is facing major challenges. At STS Group, we are meeting these challenges and making important contributions to the mobility concepts of tomorrow with our innovative components and future-oriented technologies. With our profound expertise, we will expand our leading position to create sustainable value. We see ourselves as suppliers for today and tomorrow," said Andreas Becker.
